Melting |
|
HISAR is equipped with a range of coreless induction melting furnaces providing molten metal to produce castings. They have a potential throughput of over 20.000 tons of liquid metal a year. Some of these furnaces are of very recent installation incorporating the most sophisticated, state-of-the-art control
equipment. |

Casting |
|
The in depth experience of HISAR technologists, together with unrivalled metalurgical facilities, allow the production
of highest quality rolls which are precisely tailored to meet the exact demands of todayís modern rolling mills.
HISAR works with a total quality system in accordance with ISO-9002 requirements such that product reliability corresponding to high quality standarts is guaranteed. The products are used in plants in all parts of the world.
The modern foundry complex at Gebze (45 km from Istanbul) occupies an area of more than 40.000 square meters. |

Moulding |
|
Rolls are cast by conventional roll founding techniques, using chills, sand lined chills or external denseners. A number of sand systems are in use incorporating modern preparation and reclamation processes. HISAR rolls are
produced using the static casting method. |

Heat Treatment |
|
| Many of the qualities produced require to be heat treated to achieve the optimum physical properties for the application for which they are intended. These requirements are met by a number of electrically heated, low thermal mass furnaces capable of both precise temperature control and controlled forced cooling. They are designed with latest technology to achieve uniform stress relieving and high tempering / normalising temperatures. |

Machining |
|
HISAR has extensive workshops covering areas in excess of 8.000 square meters. These modern shops are equipped with full range of machine tools necassary to provide the high standard of dimensional precision and
surface finish so essential for modern mill rolls.
These include a number of the most modern CNC machines which extend the scope of machining capability to finish grooving where required. |

Inspection and Testing |
|
Strict quality control is maintained throughout the production of a roll, in the selection of raw materials, melting, casting, heat treatment and machining. During production and before the final dispatch of the roll, non-destructive and hardness tests are carried out. In addition, samples are routinely removed for the monitoring of mechanical properties and micro structure. |

Research and Development |
|
Operations at Hisar are backed by an advanced works laboratory equipped with computer controlled direct reading spectrographs for rapid analysis, and an active research and development laboratory. These facilities have enabled Hisar to remain at the forefront of metallurgical and technical developments in roll making technology. Hisar rolls are the subject of a continuous research and development program combining service trials in collaboration with customers. |
